Cat and mouse

The cat looked into the hole full of darkness
and there sat a mouse trying to hide from its eyes in the starkness....

The little fellow had no chance of a survival in the gloom
but the cat was unable to enter with the lack of room.......

Was there any other way in?...the wily mind ran to find it
Could the mouse probably have been hit?....

Round and round the evil feline went.......
Searching for any way , any vent......

The feeble mouse shivered and shook......
"What is the cat upto???",he couldn't even look....

Finally a light in the dark shone for both of them....
The cat fitted itself through and the mouse ran...

Out of the hollow shell there ran a small brook...
Wary of the water, happily this plunge the mouse took...

It struggled to keep its nose above the water
for a long time it swam and grew weary of the water's patter......

Finally it reached the shore and shook itself dry....
but suddenly froze when it heard the cat's cry...

The felid animal had finally managed to squeeze itself through...
but the defeat by the mouse for many a clock did it rue.....
